Happy Valley Manuka Honey is labelled with the UMF label, which stands for Unique Manuka Factor. This is a trademark association that is used to identify manuka honey that contains the special antibacterial activity (non-peroxide activity) that makes the honey so unusual and special. In terms of its antibacterial rating, UMF 5+ is relatively mild but Happy Valley Active Manuka 5+ is exceptionally delicious, so may make a good honey to have around the house for everyday treats. Using the label means that Happy Valley Honey has to follow the guidelines and testing requirements to ensure the manuka honey is genuine and has the special manuka factor.
There are many brands of high quality manuka honey that do not use the UMF label, but if you are unsure about the variety of brands and different rating systems, looking for the UMF label is a good guarantee that the pot of manuka honey will be something truly exceptional.
