Description

Happy Valley Manuka Honey UMF 5+ 250g is produced as the result of collaboration between two families located north of Auckland. The company was established in 1975 and produces a wide variety of honeys, including manuka honey, and various bee products with the emphasis on ensuring the honey that ends up in the jar has as little contact and influence from humans as possible.

Happy Valley manuka honey is sourced from beekeepers throughout the country, mainly in remote and unspoilt locations near the most important source for the bees: manuka tree bush lands. Manuka trees are native only to New Zealand and a few locations in Australia so the honey produced is a rare specimen indeed.

Consumers who want to know that the manuka honey they are buying is genuine should look for the UMF label, and this Manuka Honey UMF 5+ is certified to use it. UMF stands for Unique Manuka Factor and is an internationally recognized and verifiable trademark. The trademark is run by the Unique Manuka Factor Honey Association, which has over 50 members including Happy Valley.

The scheme has developed through three decades of academic research into identifying the chemical markers that make manuka honey exceptional. The figures refer to how pure the honey is and this is something that consumers can check as this Happy Valley Manuka Honey UMF 5+ has a batch code on the label that gives the lab report when it is entered into the Happy Valley website.

Manuka honey is intense, strong and exceptional – you can eat it from the jar or slather it over a slice of fresh bread, for example. (Experts recommend consider it advisable not to give honey to children below the age of one).
